What should I consider before applying to Casa Comala?
While very accessible and relatively close to a town with all the services one could need, Casa Comala is in a remote area. You should feel comfortable “disconnecting" and with the idea that—if there are no other residents present—you may not often see other people. Residents should also be comfortable in nature. The house will be fully equipped with all the contemporary necessities of life, but outside of it are dirt and stone roads in a densely wooded area. While there will be a protocol for requesting supplies or help, residents should expect to be self-sufficient in their daily activities. If not local, Casa Comala residents should also be comfortable traveling in a country where they may not speak the language and where customs may be different from at home. Residents will receive a full guide with tips on travel and what to expect as well as best practices for using the space.
